#30DaysWild For 2021

Image
Another June has come and gone, another 30 Days packed with wild adventures. This year has certainly been tamer than last year, as more of my time is taken up with work and commitments. 2020 was a weird year and really should not be used as a something to measure against. Still, it has been fun seeing on my Facebook memories all of the mad stuff I got up to last year. The Fairy Day, the I Heart Shropshire lens, the Quiz - all great fun and things I would happily do again, given the proper time. This year, a lot more of my time and spoons is spent on work and that's ok. So while my 30 Days Wild activities are mostly luchtime walkies with the dog, I do at least have the opportunity to get outside pretty much every day. But here are some of my highlights from #30DaysWild 2021. Thanks to our rural setting aand the glorious weather, we went down to the river quite often. Our current foster pup loves to splash and play in the water. He is the first one since Tara who proper loves to go...

30 Days Wild Final Thoughts

Image
On the 15th, I gave you the mid-point breakdown of what I've been up for #30DaysWild. Well, here is the 16th to the 30th! June 16th: T-Rex Hunting Scary rain It rained pretty much all day on the sixteenth. In Shropshire, we even had thunderstorms. My partner and I got caught out in one, while in town picking up storage boxes for his business. While delightfully refreshing, we got soaked in the short walk from the shop to van. When we pulled into our drive and turned the engine off, the rain hitting the roof of the van reminded me of that scene in Jurassic Park when the T-Rex gets revealed for the first time. So we stayed in the van a little minute longer, just to make sure no T-Rexes burst onto our street. June 17th: Cricket Research Effective research With the persisting rain and sogginess, it occurred to me on our walk with the dog that I couldn't hear the crickets. Which made me wonder, where do they go when it rains? This lead to me doing some research when I got home. Tu...

Final Friday Top Five

Image
All images made using Canva It's that time again when I lament about time passing and distract myself with lists. Have my top five bugs! As #30DaysWild is drawing to a close, it seems like an appropriate topic. 5. Shield Bugs Shield bugs are awesome. The are big which makes them easy to look at, but pretty chill which makes them less of a "creepy" crawly. The colours they come in are beautiful too, that bright green or autumnal brown. Plus, it appeals to my inner DnD/Fantasy nerd that they are named after and look like shields! 4. Ladybird Who doesn't like ladybirds? I remember as a kid being really excited to count the spots and figure out how old they were. One of those playground rumours which are utter nonsense. These bugs are iconic. There's Ladybird Books, Ladybird Books for Grown-ups, Francis the Ladybird in A Bug's Life , and so many more examples that it makes my brain crash trying to think of them! I was surprised to learn that I had no idea what bab...

30 Days Wild Mid Point

Image
Question: How is it mid-June already?! Time really does fly when you're having fun and I have been having all the fun doing #30DaysWild. This is what I've been up to these last fifteen days. June 1st: Scatter Seeds Of course I coloured this in! As part of the goodie bag I received from Carole , I had some wild flower seeds to scatter. Obviously, they were going straight into the butterfly corridor! I look every morning to see if anything is sprouting up yet! Nothing so far, but the grass is full of seeds which looks awesome. June 2nd: Garden Sewing Session I think it's kraken . The sun was shining. I had a free day. I was feeling crafty and inspired. Hence, sewing in the garden. I made the cushion shared (link) on Friday last and another project which I cannot reveal yet. It is a seeeeeccrrreeettt. June 3rd: Drawing Something Wild All hail the Overlord of the Internet! From what I recall, the third is when everything suddenly got soggy which made my act of wildness a littl...
