Gah! So my attempt at being a grown up with a job and organised blog is going great so far. In my defense, we were having electrical work done last weekend and so I was without internet for large portions of my day. But yes, it is no excuse and I should really be better prepared. I'm learning, ok? My plan was for this post to be all about the shiny environmental books sitting on my shelf, gathering dust, and how I will read them! Still going to talk about it, but in short format. Aka, my dinner is cooking and I am operating on a limited time frame because bad planning! Turning the Tide on Plastic by Lucy Siegle I am ashamed to say that I got this book for Christmas a few years back and I have yet to even open it. Terrible, as I was even considering buying a copy before being gifted! It has a gorgeous front cover and the back tells me it is full of handy tips and life practises for reducing waste and plastic. A vital read, all things considered. I have to admit though, I am...

Final Friday Top Five

Final Friday Top Five Books Set At Sea How is it the end of February already? When did that happen? Well, we could get lost down the spiral of discussing time and how quickly it passes or we could look at a top five. I'm going to vote for the top five! I've recently read a really good nautical book so I thought I'd have a look at it and a few others which I have read. 5. Pirates! by Celia Rees Yes, with that level of enthusiasm. Nancy is a daughter of a plantation owner whose brother is planning to marry her off and Minerva is slave from said plantation. Rather than le...

To Be Read Pile

As an adult, I read ahead of Game of Thrones and felt really smug when people were theorising what was going to happen and I just knew.  Over the last few years, I have struggled to keep up with reading. Between busy lives and Netflix being so easy to binge, books have stayed on the shelf. However, my family and friends have a book club which recently celebrated its second Birthday, and that gets me reading at least one book a month. (Providing I actually read the selected book, there have been a few which I didn't.) Still, slowly but surely, my love for reading is returning.  And with that comes a TBR Pile. A small section of my TBR Pile My "to be read" pile largely consists of books borrowed from other people, but in it are a few books which I hope wi...
