Earth Day 2020

Happy Earth Day!

This is my third year celebrating Earth Day and this year marks the 50th anniversary. As we are still on lockdown and to keep you lovely people safe, this year we have done litter picks in isolation.

I want say a huge thank you to everyone who took part and thank you for all the great pictures. Hopefully, next year we will be able to celebrate together. For now, enjoy the pictures.

TEAM JET WASHERS

Thank you Carole, Tori, Arthur, and Jet Wash WiggleBum.

TEAM HOLLAND

Thank you Sue.

TEAM MOLOCK

Weirdest find: Definitely the pants and jacket which were in the river. Honestly thought I was about to discover a dead body!

I love doing the Earth Day litter picks, despite it being somewhat bittersweet. It's a great opportunity to come together and do some good for the environment, but it's sad that we have to do it in the first place. Still, it was good fun and the perfect excuse to get the wetsuit out and go for a wade. It's the closest thing to diving that I've done this year!

Bonus: I made a map! Check it out here.

One final picture, Carole sent yesterday evening. I waded out to a deep bit of the river to remove a lucozade bottle. Later that evening, a bird was enjoying the plastic free perch!

And now to end on a song...
