The Grinch Who Stole Christmas - specifically the Jim Carrey, 2000 version - is one of my favourite Christmas films. And you can bet a few more will be making an appearance. Why do I love this film? One, it’s so heckin’ quotable. I exclaim, “Oh bleeding hearts of the world, unite!” at least once a week. Two, Martha May Whovier aka Christine Baranski. The woman is a gem and I will not hear otherwise. And three, it makes me feel all the things.

Every poignant emotion in this film is something I have experienced - to some degree. I wasn’t run out of my class for having stubble. But feeling out of place, not being able to connect with the festive spirit, an inappropriate crush on Christine Baranski - I relate to the Grinch in so many ways. But also the joy and fuzzy Christmas feelings, too. I tend to get that when it’s warm inside, lots of twinkly lights, and outside it is really dark. Something about the contrast of dark and scary against warm and light just feels like Christmas to me.

Marine Creature of the Month JUNE

I was hoping to have the next Sharks at 7 & 3/4 s filmed and edited by now, but the boy ran off half way through filming and then told me he doesn't want to do it because it was too stressful! 6 Months Down The Line

2020 was odd and 2020 was difficult. Job hunting during a global pandemic was not the ideal situation to find myself in, but hey-ho, it was the hand I was dealt. During the process I learned a lot about myself and how to be the candidate a company wants. Biggest thing I learned was that I can be hella awkward in interviews. Especially over zoom. Especially when conducted in a tiny office during a heat wave. But that is all behind me. (Provided it all does not go horribly wrong in the forseeable future!) At the end of 2020, I landed a pretty damn epic job. I am a Content Copywriter for a copmuter retailer with a heavy focus on gaming and high-end tech. That's right, I spend eight hours a day, five days a week writing about computers! It has been a steep learning curve, having very little technical knowledge at the start, but a mere six months down the line I can confidently tell you everything about keyboards.
